The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) revealed the details of the three draws held after Canada introduced special restrictive measures in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak. The draws exclusively targeted Express Entry and Labour Impact category candidates working in essential services such as healthcare and trucking.
In all the three draws, PEI PNP invited a total of 29 candidates. The March 23 PEI PNP draw saw a total of five candidates receiving invitations to apply for provincial nomination. The next draw was held on April 27 that invited a total of 10 candidates. The third draw held on May 15 had 14 candidates invited to apply for provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island. In the normal draws held before the restrictions were introduced, PEI PNP used to invite over a 100 candidates across the three streams.
PEI PNP Express Entry
The Express Entry category under the Prince Edward Island is aligned to the federal Express Entry system. To receive an invitation to apply for provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island, the Express Entry candidates must first submit an Expression of Interest to the PEI PNP. Each of these EoI profiles are assessed on the basis of the unique points grid of the province and the highest scoring candidates receive invitations to apply for provincial nomination in the monthly draws.
Those candidates who receive the invitation and successfully obtain provincial nomination will have 600 additional Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points added to their total CRS score. It guarantees them an invitation to apply for permanent residency in Canada.
Labour Impact category
Labour Impact category candidates have also received invitations in the past three PEI PNP draws. This category targets those candidates who have a valid job offer from a PEI employer and also support from the employer to settle in the province.
Despite the restrictions introduced by Canada in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak, Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) remain active and continue to invite candidates to apply for provincial nomination. Check your eligibility for Canada PNP immigration by filling our free online assessment form.
